In grateful memory of Pasquale “Pat” Gabriele, SLDC recognizes a life richly lived and devoted to the betterment of others. As one of his final acts of generosity, Pat became a legacy donor to provide funds for our academic programs, student support, endowments, improvements and much more.
Born in Los Angeles in 1935, Pat went on to serve in the U.S. Army overseas before returning to his hometown at the tender age of 21 to begin his entrepreneurial journey. Shortly after returning home, he lost his father and took the reins of the family business Pasta Gabriele Macaroni Products, guiding it to success until his retirement. An avid traveler with an unwavering connection to his Italian roots, Pat’s worldly explorations alongside his dear friend Marisa Antonini added vibrancy to his life’s canvas.
A heartfelt conversation with Marisa also illuminated Pat’s desire to support children with disabilities posthumously, a cause rooted in his personal experience with a learning disability. His own challenges growing up fostered a deep empathy and understanding for others. Pat’s vision of enriching the lives of children with special needs was realized following his passing in 2019 with a $75,000 bequest to SLDC, received this year.
Pat’s remarkable legacy of optimism, selflessness and compassion lives on through the achievements of our students and stands as a reminder to embrace life fully and give without expectation.
