Eagle Scout Upgrades Media Lab, Creating Opportunities for Digital Exploration

Buena Park, Calif (December 5, 2024) – Last month, Linden Oaks had the honor of welcoming Connor Chin, an aspiring Eagle Scout from Troop 1238 in Fullerton, who led the transformation of our media lab with the construction of a professional-grade broadcasting desk, along with significant updates to our lighting and camera technologies. These improvements will provide our students with the tools to explore journalism, broadcasting, and digital literacy in a hands-on, engaging environment.

Connor's brother Dustin

This service project concluded an 8-month long process, and marked the final step in Connor’s journey toward earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. This distinction is achieved by only 4% of Scouts nationwide. Connor’s dedication to this project reflects his commitment to excellence and his desire to leave a lasting impact on the community – all worthy qualities essential in a future Eagle Scout!

This service project was also deeply personal for Connor and his family, who chose Linden Oaks (formerly known as SLDC) because of its connection to his late brother Dustin, a former student. “SLDC was such a big part of my brother’s life,” he shared. “This project gave me the opportunity to give back and make a positive impact on other students in the school.”

Connor’s dedication to serving his community extends far beyond this project. As a high school student, he plans to take on leadership roles in various community service clubs, furthering his commitment to making a difference. Looking ahead, Connor is eager to bring these clubs to Linden Oaks for additional service projects, building on the positive impact of his Eagle Scout Service Project. His passion for giving back and inspiring others to join in service demonstrates his remarkable character and desire to create meaningful change within his community.

Thank you for your vision, leadership, and dedication, Connor! We are grateful for the lasting impact you’ve made through your Eagle Scout Service Project
